After living on California's streets for a decade, Greg and Marie received a remarkable invitation.
Director’s Note: I got the idea for this film from a columnist at the San Francisco Chronicle, Otis Taylor Jr, who had been reporting on Greg and Marie’s story for months. We formed a partnership with Otis and the SF Chronicle and decided to collaborate on a film that would translate Otis’ reporting into a film. This 16-minute documentary is one of the most-viewed BBC digital videos ever published online. It has generated 20 million views across platforms and achieved record-breaking engagement times. It brought 20,000 new subscribers to the BBC’s Youtube channel, and out of 176 episodes of Cut Through the Noise, my 6-minute, mobile-first edit of this story remains the most-watched to this day.
